Guru Nanak Public School beat DAV-15 in handball

Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 beat DAV School, Sector 15 by 5-2 in the handball match in Under 14 (Girls) of Inter-School Sports Meet held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23 here today.

In softball under-19 category matches held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, Government Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 8, got the first position while Government Girls School of Sector 23 and GMSSS, Sector 16 secured second and third positions, respectively.

Results: Handball under-14 (girls): GNPS-36 b DAV-15 by 5-2, GMSSS-8 b GMSSS-44 by 7-0, GMSSS-44 b DAV-15 b 6-2;

(Handball under-17 girls): 1 GNPS-36, 2 Sacred Heart-26, 3 GMSSS-16;

(Handball under-19 girls): GNPS-36 b DAV-15 by 9-5, GMSSS-21 b SGGSSSS-35 by 6-2;

(Softball under-19 girls): 1 GMSSS-8, 2 GGSSS-23, 3 GMSSS-10;

(Handball under-17 girls): 1 GMSSS-10, 2 GMSSS-8, 3 Sacred Heart-26;

(Handball under-14 girls): 1 GHS-11, 2 GHS-30, 3 GHS-37.

3 gymnasts for world tourney

Three city gymnasts — Rakesh Kumar, Keshab Paul and Amar Kumar — have been selected to represent the country in the FIG World Series Competition International Youth Championship, to be held at Bangkok in Thailand from November 3 to 5.

All three gymnasts are Constables in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police force at Chandigarh.

R.P. Singla

Mr R.P. Singla, a former Ranji player, has been nominated as member (north) of the Technical Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for two years. The committee is being headed by Sunil Gavaskar.

Mr Singla, also chairman of the Selection Committee (Junior) of Punjab Cricket Association, has been working as General Manager of Hotel Mountview here.
