81 donate blood at two camps

Ludhiana, September 12
The Department of Transfusion Medicine in Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here organised two voluntary blood donation camps at Durga Mandir, Sarabha Nagar, in the city and at Jain Eye Hospital at Raikot in collaboration with JCI Ludhiana Central and JCI Raikot yesterday in which 81 units of blood were collected by a team of doctors led by Dr Rajesh Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Amarjit Kaur, Professor and Head of Transfusion Medicine at DMCH, expressed pleasure and satisfaction that all donors were highly motivated and enthusiastic in contributing towards the noble cause.

Focusing on the contribution of DMCH toward the welfare of thalassemic children, she said each unit of blood would be screened for all transmissible diseases and thereafter issued to thalassemic children at highly subsided rates. All screening and investigation charges would be borne by the hospital, she added.

Ekamjot shines in rural sports

Ekamjot Kaur of Khanna won two titles (100 m and 200 m) in the Khanna Block Rural Sports for the boys and girls (u-16) organised jointly by the Sports Department and the Sports Authority of India in association with rural sports clubs and the Zila Parishad at Principal Naresh Chander Stadium, Khanna, on September 10 and 11.
