The Hansraj Public School, Panchkula team (Aruj Garg, Karishma Ahuja, Pratibha Moudgil and Piyush) won The Lawrence School, Sanawar’s Inter-School Business Quiz, garnering 135 points organised on the school campus here today.

The final was a very closely fought affair. The winners for all four top positions had to be decided through a tie-breaker. There were three rounds: Make or break round, clue round and rapid fire round.

The home team (Gurmehr Grewal, Raghav Goyal, Ashana Modi & Priyam Patel from The Lawrence School, Sanawar) also collected 135 points but adjudged to be second. The team from Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, Delhi (Abhimanyu Gupta, Vidur Ahluwalia, Anubhav Modi & Arjun Jerath) collected 125 points and came third. St. Stephen’s School, Chandigarh (Vikram, Avijeet Singh, Jatin Kaura & Advitya) with 125 points came fourth. A well-known quiz master from Chandigarh anchored the quiz show.

As many as 22 schools from the North competed in this Inter-School Business Quiz in which students from Class IX, X, XI and XII of leading residential and day schools participated.

The chief guest on the occasion was Ms Geetanjali Kirloskar, herself an Old Sanawarian of 1983 batch, currently Chairperson of FICCI’s India Japan Business Cooperation Committee and also a board member of the India Board Equity Foundation by the Commerce Ministry of Government Of India. She has also sponsored this Inter-School Business Quiz.

Ms Geetanjali shared her feelings with The Tribune, while on a trip back to her old school after a gap of 23 years and fondly remembered the school, its values and the serene natural surroundings.

“I am making most of this opportunity to come over to my old school. Though it is for the very first time that we are sponsoring this unique business quiz contest and we are on a dialogue with the management of this school to sponsor forthcoming events, be it education related or sports etc,”

Ms Geetanjali further said, “ This school gives you a sound grounding. It’s emotional, physical, mental attitude is unmatched. A part of it stays with you for ever. But at the same time, I must stress that this school is not for the feeble minded persons but for the strong minded and if the feeble minded want to be stronger then this is the right place for them. Here a distance has been maintained between the teacher and the student with decency. That’s what speaks of its being unique.”

Meanwhile, the Quiz was designed and organised by the Faculty of Commerce.
