Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb voted best Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour’s solo on their track Comfortably Numb has been voted the greatest of all time.
It was chosen ahead of the opening riff from Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns’N’Roses in a poll by viewers of TV music channel Planet Rock. The US act, with Brit-born guitarist Slash, also took the number five with November Rain and 17 with Paradise City. Third on the list was Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, while Eruption by Van Halen was fourth and Led Zeppelin classic Stairway to Heaven came in the sixth place. The rest of the top 10 featured Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits, Aqualung by Jethro Tull, Hotel California by the Eagles and Child In Time by Deep Purple, reports The Mirror.
