PGI, GH-16 OPDs closed on Aug 15
Chandigarh, August 11 However, on Janamashtami (August 16) all OPDs at the PGI will function as usual though the ones at General Hospital will remain closed. Emergency services will continue to function normally in both the hospitals on both the days.
Roundabouts impress US team
Chandigarh, August 11 “Chandigarh is a beautiful place with a lot of greenery. The most exciting thing about City Beautiful is its roundabouts which are very fascinating. We visited Rock Garden in the morning and enjoyed a camel ride over there”, echoed ball jugglers from the USA. Adelina Gentry (22) was forced to take this sport because of her height i.e. 5 foot 11 inches. “My parents forced me to take this game seriously. Moreover, I am a sports loving girl. I also did a degree in sports management.” The 25-year-old Heather Newton is accompanying the team as a mental trainer. “I work on the spiritual aspect. Though I don’t play but have to perform an important part to make the team mentally stronger,” she believed. |
DAV-8 centre emerge handball champs
Chandigarh, August 11 Bharat Bhushan and Abishek Garg were the main contributors in the DAVSH CC-8 win where they scored 12 and 11 goals, respectively. Bhim (5) and Manpreet (3) were the other contributors. On the other hand, Vishal (7), Amarjit (5), Karan (4) and Hukam (3) scored from the losers’. It was a topsy turvy situation in the girls final title, which was grabbed by Handball Coaching Centre-42. HCC-42 team defeated DAV Hanball Coaching Centre- 8 19-14. Anita was the main contributor in HCC-42 win as she scored 6 goals, ably supported by Rajbir , Madhu, Nishu and Ravneet, who scored 3 goals each. From the losing side, Sushma scored 7 goals while Renu Saini scored 4 goals. For the third-place match in boys’ category, HCC-23 beat GMSSS, Sector 23 in a well-contested match and the final score stood at 22-20. From the winners’ side, Loveneet scored 9 goals, Vijay, Parmod and Baljinder scored 4, 3, and 2 goals, repectively. From the losing side, Johny scored 8 goals, followed by Vikash (5) and Deepkaran (4). The third-place playoff in girls’ group was won by DAV Public School, Sector 15, who defeated HCC, Sector 19, 12-8. Vidya (6) Shivani (4) and Isha (2) were the contributors from DAV team while Neha (4), Anjana (3) were the main scorers from losing side. |
Chandigarh, August 11 In the second match, Centre of Excellency, Patiala lost to Rock Rovers Chandigarh 16-22. The last match of the day was won by Punjab and Sind Bank Academy, Jalandhar. They defeated Wanders Club 24-18. — TNS |
