Ulta Pulta
Princely slip

The most wonderful piece of news a few days back, in the deafening cries of murder, loot and arson, was the rescue of the little Prince. News channels vied with one another to report every minute detail of the operation and covered it live day and night. And once the little prince was rescued, it looked as if the TV channels were left with no other significant work.

I’m sure the little hero of the day, Prince, must be a bewildered child on coming out of the pit. He must be wondering why the Chief Minister uncle, other politician uncles, bureaucrats, and army uncles were swarming round him, one snatching him from the other.

The support for the child came pouring in. Zee TV announced to fund his education. The state government also announced a cash incentive for the child and his family. Since it was Prince’s birthday, good wishes poured in from all parts of the world. There are many neglected children (and potholes) in the country, with no one to even remember their birthday. I’m sure children will be on the lookout for a small pothole to comfortably slip in.

I only fear that when Prince grows up and feels at any stage of his life that he is not getting his due, he may just slip into a pothole and sit there.

One such schoolboy while coming back from school fell into a gutter. But the heavy school bag on his back saved his head from hitting the floor. For your child’s safety, get him a heavy school bag.
