A fine century in the U-16 age-group by skipper Aayush Raj Soni, ably supported by Neeraj Joshi (58 runs) and Tanveer Manek (49 runs) enabled St. John’s team beat St. Authony’s team, Lahore, by a huge margin of 178 runs in the inaugural match of Indo-Pak friendship Cup, 2006, being held at St. John’s High School, Sector-26, here today.
The St. John’s team amassed 268 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 250 overs.
In reply, the St. Anthony’s team were bundled out for a partly 90 runs. For the St. Anthony’s team, Abu Baker scored 24 runs and Ahmed Illyas 17 runs. For the St. John’s team Prateek took 3 wickets for 10 runs and Abhishek Verma took 2 wickets for 2 runs.
In the U-13 age group, the St. John’s team batting first amassed 160 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 15 overs. For the St. John’s team Karan Goyal scored unbeaten 51 runs and Shivam Bhambri scored 52 runs.
In reply, the St. Anthony’s team was bundled out for 67 runs. For the St. John’s team Jayant, Vardaan, Manraj took 2 wickets each whereas the main strike bowler was Prithvi Bhart, who took 3 wickets for 12 runs,
