The success of Mittal Steel in taking over Arcelor to become the world’s largest steel producer and the box-office hit ‘Krissh’ starring Hrithik Roshan has driven the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Indore to teach their business models as case studies to budding managers. “After getting permission from Rakesh Roshan’s Filmcraft for teaching promising managers the business model of ‘Krissh’, IIM-Indore has also got the nod from Laxmi Nivas Mittal’s Mittal Steel for teaching its success story as a case study to the students,” IIM-Indore Director S. P. Parashar said recently. The institute will present a case study of Mittal Steel in five different areas to fully understand its global empire, he said. “Earlier we use to teach our students the case studies of a number of multinational companies, but now we have decided to include the case studies of successful global Indian players also,” he said. Like all major management schools in the world, IIMs also use the case study method as an essential component of management education.
