108 donate blood

Panchkula, July 16
As many as 108 persons, including eight women, donated blood at a camp organised by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation at DC Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, here today.

A team of doctors from department of medical transfusion, PGI, Chandigarh, collected the blood. The donors participated in the noble cause so that precious lives could be saved.

Refreshment was also given to the donors, a press note issued by the organisation claimed.

Kinshuk wins doubles title

Chandigarh, July 16
Local tennis player Kinshuk Sharma made the city proud by winning the doubles title of Mercedes ITF-G4 Junior International Tennis Tournament at Bangkok today. Along with his partner Issara Khunpol of Thailand, Kinshuk outplayed the top seeded Chinese pair of Yin Xiao-Long and Zhou-Quing in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

In the finals, the fourth seeded pair again beat the second-seeded pair of Deng Hong -Bo of China and Wong Tse-Chun of Hong Kong by 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in a evenly contested match. Of the 15 Indian players who took part in the tournament, Kinshuk was the sole Indian to reach the final stages of this tournament.
