PU allows subjective condoning of lecture shortage
Chandigarh, July 12 Introducing a subjective element to the method of condonation, the Syndicate has decided that condonation may be allowed keeping in view the conduct and behaviour of the students in the department in particular and the university in general. However, the Syndicate reiterated that condonation of lectures could not be claimed as a matter of right and it was not obligatory for the head of the department to condone lectures and the student had no right to appeal. The Syndicate has decided to make Prof Aruna Goel the next Chairman of the Department of Correspondence Studies. The members had to consider the cases of Prof B.B. Goel and Prof Aruna Goel for the chairmanship. The matter regarding counting of past service rendered in another institution or organisation before joining the university by retired employees for pensionary benefits was referred back to the committee by the Syndicate.
