Goa offers low-cost holidaying

It’s not just the magnificent scenic beauty and the architectural splendours of its temples, churches and old houses that have made Goa a favourite with travellers around the world. The smallest state of India, also known as “Pearl of the Orient” and a “Tourist Paradise”, also offers tourists the lowest cost of holidaying, something that has helped it beat Brazil to become the world’s best bargain holiday spot.

A survey reveals that in Goa, a pint of beer costs just 79p and the total cost of 15 typical holiday items, including milk, bread, taxis, meals and papers is £25.70, compared to £26.89 in Brazil, a country famed for its Copacabana beach, making it the cheapest international destination.

The Thomas Cook Cost of Holiday Living Index carried out the survey, which put Tunisia, Cuba and Morocco on the third, fourth and fifth slot respectively, reports The Sun. Europe’s top three bargain destinations were Bulgaria (£34.73), Spain (£44.72) and Turkey (£48.62).

The survey also revealed that Spain, traditionally considered one of the most expensive short-haul destinations, has cut prices dramatically. — ANI
