Food coupons for meritorious students

Panchkula, June 10
In a noble gesture, a Panchkula-based hotel Pallavi has decided to distribute complementary food coupons (worth Rs 100 each) to meritorious students of Panchkula, Chandigarh and Mohali.

The hotel management has distributed 220 coupons among students of 25 schools who scored 90 per cent and above marks in Class X and XII examinations conducted by the CBSE and ICSE.

Col R.S. Patial, Additional General Manager of the hotel, disclosed that the step had been initiated to encourage college and school students to excel in studies.

Such coupons (worth Rs 250 each) would also be distributed among the college students for securing 75 per cent and above marks in their examinations.

Fun time for kids

Children are having a gala time by participating in various activities like dance, aerobics, art and craft, yoga, conversation skill and modelling offered at a unique summer camp “Mercury” organised by Education Tower, an educational institute, in Sector 35.

A large number of students have been enjoying their summer vacations at the institute. Students aged between 4-14 years have been “learning while playing” with great enthusiasm.

Mr Samarth Khanna, camp in charge, claimed that free dental check up, picnic tours and stage performances, during the camp, had also been attracting the students.

CIIS honours students

Chandigarh. June 10
A ceremony to honour successful students of the Canadian Institute for International Studies (CIIS) was held at the institute in Mohali today. The students were part of the first batch in Computer Graphics Design and Live in Care Giver (LICG) programme.

Lt Gen K.S. Mann (retd), while speaking on the occasion, said, “Our training programme equips the students with adequate knowledge of their duties, rights and obligations”.

“LICG is a six-month program in which students are exposed to all areas falling under the domain of working as a caregiver personal support worker viz. child care, old age care, first aid, CPR, safety measures, housekeeping etc”, he said.

A spokesman for the CIIS said graphic designer was a broad category that included artists who used a wide range of tools from computer applications to video cameras to design promotional displays, marketing brochures, logos, commercials, annual reports and other graphics products for clients.

Summer camp concludes

Chandigarh, June 10
Students of Rainbow International School, Sector 27, celebrated the closing of summer camp with a great enthusiasm here today. The participants took part in a dance performance besides beating the heat by splashing in the swimming pool.

A rain dance party was also organised for the tiny tots. The participants were also given refreshment, claimed Ms Sarabjit Kaur, school Principal.
