Doc lauded for his work on book Ludhiana, June 1 The author of the book is Prof Edward G. Mcfarland, Vice Chairman of Orthopaedic Department, John Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore (USA) and it has been published by Thieme Publishers, New York, USA. Dr Gill had worked on this book during his fellowship at John Hopkins University School of Medicine. He happens to be the first orthopaedic surgeon of the region to be the editor of an international text book in orthopaedics. He has more than 50 international publications and presentations to his credit. Dr Gill has also been invited for various international and national conferences as a guest speaker. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sekhon said it was matter of great pride for him as one of his student had made a name for himself in orthopedics. He said in the present scenario when exchange of knowledge, as well as medical and surgical techniques was very fast, the professionals also needed to keep abreast with latest developments the world over. He described Dr Gill as a rare combination of an academician and a practising surgeon in orthopaedics. Mr Jugdip Singh congratulated Dr Gill on this distinction while observing that it was a matter of great honour for SPS Apollo Hospitals. He further said the Department of Orthopaedics, with its state of art technology, was doing well in trauma care, handling of sports injuries and joint replacements. Commenting on the book, Dr Gill remarked that the publication would be of great help to medical students, and also to orthopaedic surgeons. It was a complete guide for shoulder examination. “New concepts in shoulder surgery have been introduced and the accompanying DVD contains footage of the examination techniques for easy comprehension and review.” |

Sub-junior boys: Adhiraj Sharma, Jatindervir Singh Kular, Akshit, Shashank Shah, Jagdeep Singh, Rishab Batra, Manavdeep Singh Bal, Balteshwar Singh Boparai, Bharat Sood, Ajay Kumar and Saksham Kapoor. Sub-junior girls: Arman Kaur, Seerat Gill, Kawalpreet Kaur, Riya Pahwa, Liya Gupta, Shubh Karman Dhaliwal, Lipika Dhall, Mani Mehtab Dhaliwal, Divya Jain and Japneet. Ajay Sharma, Sunil Kumar, Ajay Sharma of the PAU, Amandeep Kaur, Ajaypal Singh and Manjit Singh will accompany the teams as officials.
