City golfer in Indian team
Chandigarh, June 1 Already recognised to be No 1 in Junior National Golf Championship for 2003-04 by the Indian Golf Union, this young golfing prodigy of Chandigarh will have a major break in the senior circuit after getting a place in the Indian golf team. He got this berth on the basis of selection trials held at Noida in the first week of this month. His final standing after discarding one bad round was at overall second position with a par card of 504 points in seven best out of eight rounds. Ajeetesh who has pocketed many junior titles in the under -13, under-15 categories, stole the limelight during the ‘Teens on the Green World Champion-ship Finale’, a 54-hole stroke play event held at the Stone Mountain Resort near Atlanta in November last. He finished second, carded a total score of 143 today just one stroke short of Simon Merry of Trinidad who scored 142. He showed his class at the South India Junior/subjunior Championship held at Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) greens with a closing round score of 73 to win with a total of 289. Earlier, in 2003, he created history in Western India Junior Golf Championship, held at Mumbai, where he won the under -15 title by a record margin of double scores. Ajeetesh, an ex-student of St John’s School, Sector 26, at present is in Florida, USA, where he has joined the Lead Better Golf Academy
(DLGA) in October last on full scholarship for two years. |

Chandigarh State Junior Athletics Championship: First fortnight of September 2006. Participation of Chandigarh state junior athletic team in North Zone Junior Athletic Championship: At Saharanpur from September 20 to 22. Participation in Inter Zonal Junior Athletic Championship: At Lucknow from October 11 to 13. Chandigarh State Sub-junior Athletic Championship and Chandigarh State Men And Women Athletics Championship: Last fortnight of October. Participation in National Inter district Championship: At Haridwar from November 4 to 6, 2006. Participation in National Inter State Athletic Championships (seniors): At Chennai from November 14 to 18, 2006. Participation in National Inter State Athletic Championships (juniors): At Karnataka from November 25 to 29, 2006. |
