The Barber of Delhi

A nail in
a tree,
a mirror,
a chair
and the barber shop is ready.

His custom
in the roadside shade
is varied and constant.
Some indulge in the luxury
of having themselves shaved.

Is it the flat world
Thomas Friedman talks about,
or a little man
earning his living
by his enterprise?

A man’s basic needs
are the same
in a flat or round world.
Can he take advantage
of the flat world?

Perhaps in the future
the barber can hire
a wi-fi computer
and get his customers
hooked on it.
