CII to make 10 lakh youth employable by 2010

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Monday announced a tie-up with Schwing Stetter India for providing skill training to youth in ‘concrete pump’ and ‘batching plant’ operations. While the training would be provided by Schwing Stetter India, the CII and City and Guilds of United Kingdom would issue certificates to the candidates after completion of the course.

So far, 11 students had successfully completed the course, a CII release said in Mumbai. Chairman CII-Southern Region R Parasuraman said the ‘Skills Development Initiative’ wing of the CII would try to make 10 lakh youth employable by 2010 and that it had tied up with City and Guilds to offer specialised vocational courses throughout the country in partnership with private sector and government agencies.

“The CII is targeting 5,000 people, whom it will provide skill training with, by the end of this year, in various trades and make them employable,’’ he said.
