Strollers
A Chinese asked me
in Beijing
whether strollers in Delhi still
populated early morning hours.
Yes, they do,
I assured him — in a variety of garb,
in pyjamas or in motley
shirts and trousers.
Women come in
salwar kameez,
their dupatta, constantly displaced,
is peremptorily put in place each time.
But they wear
running shoes,
their one concession
to modernity.
