A Member of Parliament woke up in the morning and found a packet beneath his pillow. He opened the envelope and found some currency notes in it. He hurriedly scanned the notes against the light of a 100-watt bulb to check if these were real. When he was satisfied that these were real, he counted them and found them totalling Rs 20,000. He was disturbed and wondered if someone had tried to bribe him in his dreams. “The money is too little by my standard”. He again peeped into the envelope carefully. A slip flew out and landed on his bed. It read, “This is ‘cash for question’ fee. Kindly ask the question on our behalf in Parliament. The question is also enclosed for your reference”. The MP was crestfallen. He was saddened by the shockingly low standard of bribery. “What a low price people pay for asking questions on their behalf”. Anyway, the MP didn’t want to disappoint Goddess Lakshmi so he pocketed the money. Suddenly, a TV team appeared from nowhere and asked him from where he had got the money. The MP said, “Don’t you know it is Christmas today and Santa Claus has gifted me this packet?” |
