The Sisters Grimm: The
Fairy-Tale Detectives Children in the USA are reading the story of Sabrina and Daphne Grimm, orphaned sisters who have been shuttled from terrible foster parent to terrible foster parent until they land in the town of Ferryport Landing with a strange woman who says she's their grandmother. This book is for children 9-12. The woman also claims that she and the girls are descendants of the fairy-tale-writing Brothers Grimm. And that the family's job is to keep an eye on the activities of Ferryport Landing's residents. And that those residents are really "Everafters," fantastical characters like Prince Charming and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. Yeah, right, Sabrina
thinks, until her grandmother is kidnapped by a giant, and some police
officers turn out to be the Three Little Pigs. Then Sabrina realizes
that if she and Daphne don't do something —thank goodness they have a
magic mirror, a flying carpet and a fairy named Puck to help them—no
one will live happily ever after. — LAT/WP |
