250 patients examined

Ludhiana, December 6
A free medical check-up camp was organised on the premises of a gurdwara at Model Town Extension here yesterday. The camp was organised in the memory of Rumeet Singh.

A team of seven doctors, led by Dr Sanjeev Jain, examined 250 patients. Free medicines were also provided to patients.

Rumeet Singh was killed in an accident in Ahmedabad last year along with his associate.

Cricket body formed

Ludhiana, December 6
The first meeting of the newly constituted Ludhiana District Twenty-Twenty Cricket Association was held at the Sutlej Club here yesterday. Mr A.K. Sharma, Superintendent, Customs and Central Excise, the chief patron of the association presided over the meeting.

According to Mr Sanjeev Dhanda, vice-president-cum-press secretary of the association, Mr Sandeep Jalota was appointed as the chairman while Mr Des Raj, a senior cricket coach, was elected as its general secretary. The meeting resloved to conduct trials to select the district team at the Bharat Box Factory ground, Tajpur Road, on December 18. Entries may be sent to Mr Des Raj at his office at the Guru Nanak Stadium by December 16 or on Mobile no. 98726-28820.

Mr Dhanda informed that a state level tournament in which 16 teams from all over Punjab would take part would be organised in January next year. Others who attended the meeting were Mr Harmit Batra, Mr Rajesh Puri, Mr Harish Dua, Mr Aman Seth, Mr Ajesh, Mr Raman Kapoor, Mr Sarabjit Singh, Mr Jagjit Brar, Mr Narinder Kumar, Mr Gagandeep Bhalla, Mr Anuj Sharma, Mr Rajeev Bhalla, Mr Dinesh Soin, Mr Sanjay Nayyar and Mr Rajesh Gandhi.
