Role reversal
Jaspal Bhatti

Imagine a dialogue in a Bollywood film, "Badahi ho, ghar mein waris aa gaya hai."(Congratulations, your heir has arrived). The father asks, "But how can I have a son when my wife is not pregnant and, moreover, I cannot father any child at this age?" The father was told that it is not that his wife who has delivered a baby, but his 18-year-old daughter had a undergone sex change. When I came across a report that more men want to turn into women, I wondered what complications would arise regarding property disputes with gender reassignments. May be with the Women Reservation Bill about to get through, some male politicians see better career as females.

I don’t see any harm if the husband and wife opt for the reversal of roles after celebrating the silver jubilee of their marriage. A husband wouldn’t mind getting his gender changed if he gets relief from the daily dose of rebukes and a wife would love to be freed from the everyday cooking. The old saying, "If you can not defend your family honour like a man, wear bangles and sit in the house" will also lose meaning. Now any man can proudly shave off his moustache, wear bangles, and change into a mini-skirt. And his mother will proudly say "Ab hamara ladka bilkul Priety Zinta jaisa lagta hai"
