A research by scientists at Bradford University has found that women are better and safer drivers.

What was the need to waste time and money on such research when most men agree with the point made that women are superior drivers? Even those women who know nothing about gears, clutch, brakes, or the ignition system, are best at backseat driving.

I have seen husbands who cannot change gears without permission from their wives. Some wives can be heard saying, "Why are you staring at the woman in the car behind us through the rear mirror? Look ahead, there is a cow giving indication with its tail to cross the road." Instead of paying heed to such continuous instructions from your wife, I think it is better to hand over the steering to her, sit peacefully, and think about the next instalment of the car.

A woman has a multi-track capacity to interact with three to four persons in the house at a time. She has to dodge her mother-in-law, at the same time haggle with vegetable vendor, talk to children and rebuke her husband. That’s why they can never miss a signboard of ‘Heavy Sale’ on any shop while driving past a market.

A woman is fond of giving instructions rather than accepting one from anybody. My friend N.P. Singh, in the merchant navy, can handle ships in the roughest weather but still I have heard his wife Alpana giving him instructions on the telephone, "Be careful in the sea. If some big whale comes in your way, do not forget to blow the horn and give the indicator".
