Mayawati has declared herself a living deity. She has said, "Instead of spending money on gods and goddesses whom you have never seen, give us money for our mission." I fully agree with her. In today’s world of modern politics, all powerful politicians have become gods and goddesses in their own right. Narendra Modi, Jayalalitha, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Bal Thackeray each deserves the status of a living deity. Just as cinegoers in the South build temples for film stars, people should also raise temples and install idols of politicians in these. If the public is not interested in making temples for politicians, they should take the initiative themselves. A politician in power should be allowed to construct a temple from government funds. Anyone finding it difficult to get a job done in a government department would offer "Prasad" money to the temple of the minister concerned. Contractors would be heard saying, "Bhai Sahib paanch lakh ka prasad Chief Minister ke mandir mein chadhaya tab jakar file clear hui." I suggest to Mayaji that if she ever thinks of constructing her temple, she should not go in for an expensive diamond-studded statue of her in it. Instead of offering money to her idol, someone might just be tempted to steal it. |
