Hanuman’s tale
Randeep Wadehra

Whenever one used to read comics or watch animation movies featuring Thor, the superhero of Scandinavian mythology, one used to wonder why didn’t they bring out similar stuff on our own Hanuman. But that was a teenager’s fancy. Fancy that’s coming true now when one is shuffling through middle age. Star One has produced a beautiful animation movie Hanuman. Already, animated versions of the Ramayana and other epics and legends have been produced with foreign collaborations. It’s high time our epics inspired our film makers to come up with more such productions.

Set to release on October 21, Hanuman will highlight our superhero’s life from his childhood onwards. Normally we contemplate him as someone who is single-mindedly devoted to Lord Rama, which is true of course. But he is a multi-dimensional character. As a child, he performed superhuman feats, and also earned a curse that made him forget his spiritual-physical powers. This he realised only when Lord Rama needed his help.

This movie will offer inspirational entertainment through an absorbing storyline and songs sung by the likes of Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan and many others. The animation was made possible by VG Samant, who created over 2, 00,000 individual images of 40 individual characters over a period of two years.

This certainly is something that kids are going to love and the elders wouldn’t mind joining them to make the viewing a family experience.
