Farmers attend workshop

Ludhiana, October 11
Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute has conducted a five-day workshop on “Farming system approach” for officials of the agriculture and allied departments of Amritsar, Ferozepore, Patiala and Ropar districts. It was concluded today.

These districts are selected under a scheme sponsored by the Central Government. The participants were enlightened about the strengths and weakness of various farm enterprises like fruit and vegetable cultivation, different cropping systems, agro-forestry, poultry, dairy and beekeeping by experts from PAU. Institute gets award

Ludhiana, October 11
The Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology, Gujarkhan Campus, has been adjudged the best student chapter for this year by the Indian Society for Technical Education from this region. The institute has bagged this award for the third consecutive year.

The award will be presented at the inaugural function of the eighth annual national convention to be held at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib, on October 21.

Harpreet Kalia of MCA has been selected as the best student of the chapter and he will receive the award on October 22 at the concluding function of the convention.

Blood donation

The NSS wing of the Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology, Katani Kalan, in association with the DMCH organised a blood donation camp on its campus on Tuesday.

As many as 57 units of blood were collected.

Extension lecture

An extension lecture on “The changing role of teacher in present scenario” was organised at the GMT College of Education here on Tuesday. The speaker was Mr Shiv Dutt Kalia, Principal, BCM School. The event was organised under the chairmanship of Mr Kashmir Singh Thind.

3-day education camp

As many as 100 students participated in a three-days education camp organised by the Pendu Sikhya Promotion Council at Government Senior Secondary School, Naraingarh, of Amloh block.

On the first day of the camp Mr Amar Singh, a state awardee teacher from Government Senior Secondary School, Salana, touched upon various topics related to science on the second day Mr Amarjit Singh, a teacher from elementary school had a detailed discussion on arithmetic and general science subjects.

BCM girls win lawn tennis title

Ludhiana, October 11
BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, beat BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road branch, 2-0 to emerge champions in the girls (u-19 years) in the Punjab Sahodaya Schools Lawn Tennis Tournament here today.

In the final, Bharti and Harsimran of Shastri Nagar branch recorded identical win (7-4) over their rivals Manpreet and Harmeen from Chandigarh Road branch.

In the boy's (u-19 years) final, Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, defeated BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, 2-1 to clinch the title.

In the first match, Bhagwan of GNPS outplayed Shekhar 6-1. However, in the second match, Sumeet of BCM School pipped Darshpal of GNPS to level the score. In the doubles, Bhagwan and Darshpal got the better of Sumeet and Shekhar 6-4 which also gave their school the title.

In the girl's (u-14 years), BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road, beat BCM Arya School, Shastri Nagar branch, 2-1 to bag the title.

In the boy's section (u-14 years), BCM Arya School, Shastri Nagar, beat Guru Nanak Public School, Ludhiana 2-0.
