A comic act

Sudha Chandran
Sudha Chandran

SHE is a mother-in-law every girl prays she won’t get. Viewers simply love it when she plots evil schemes. But Sudha Chandran is bored of being bad. And what’s more, she’s agreed to do a comic role in Hum Paanch to ensure that she doesn’t get typecast as a vamp.

Sudha, who’ll be playing the role of the dead wife, the one essayed with so much aplomb by Priya Tendulkar in the original Hum Paanch, is extremely excited about the image shift.

"I know that the character of Ramola Sikand in Kahiin Kisi Roz has given a new meaning to my career but I want to do something different now. I want to show producers that I can be more than just a wicked saas. That’s why I jumped at Balaji’s offer," says she.

Though she’ll be confined to a photoframe throughout the sitcom the role is certainly challenging. Now it remains to be seen whether Sudha will be able to make a smooth transition from vicious to virtuous.

Sister act

Gauhar Khan: Small screen’s new flavour
Gauhar Khan: Small screen’s new flavour

SHE’S the new kid on the block. And a sought after sensation at that. Ever since she scorched the Mumbai theatre scene as the lead in Kya Karen Control Nahin Hota, Gauhar Khan has serial makers hot in pursuit.

Sister of TV star Negar Khan, Gauhar, a stunning supermodel who turned heads with several of her ad campaigns and ramp shows, looks all set to storm the small screen.

In Kya Karen Control Nahin Hota, she plays a vivacious girl Pinky who gets two very unexpected suitors, Motilal and Champaklal played by Sudhir Panday and Paintal. The old coots are totally besotted by her and refuse to be shaken off even when she tells them she’s happily married. What follows is some side-splitting stuff`A0

Says Gauhar, "I am having a ball doing the play but what I am really looking forward to are TV offers that I’ve got. You’ll be seeing a lot more of me now."

If sis Negar’s hot music videos are anything to go by then viewers can expect Gauhar to carry on with the fireworks. NF
