6 DCs, 7 SSPs transferred Jammu, April 23 These transfers were ordered by the state Cabinet which met here last evening under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Mufti Sayeed. The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Mr Khurshid Ahmed Gani, and Mr B.B. Vyas, Agriculture Commissioner, swap places. The Deputy Commissioners of Kathua, Kargil, Baramula, Srinagar, Budgam and Kupwara have been shifted. The SSPs of Jammu, Leh, Poonch, Doda, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Udhampur have been transferred. Mr Devinder Nargotra, Deputy Commissioner, of Kathua, has been shifted as Joint Financial Commissioner, Agrarian Reforms, and Mr Pardeep Gupta, Special Secretary, Power, has been put in his place. Mr Mohinder Singh, DC, Kargil, goes as Managing Director, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and OBC Development Corporation and Mr Kuchoo Isfandar Khan, Director, Land Records, goes in his place. Mr Rohit Kansal, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board, goes as DC, Baramula, in place of Mr Dheeraj Gupta, who has been shifted as Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, in place of Mr.B.D.Sharma, who has been sent as a member to the J&K Special Tribunal. Mr Shailendera Kumar, DC, Srinagar, goes as Secretary Power Department. Mr Ajay Khajuria, Additional DC, Jammu, has been promoted as Director, Tourism, Jammu. Mr Nayeem Akhtar, Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been appointed as Secretary, General Administration Department. Mr Najmus Saqib, Secretary, Health, has been shifted to the Forest Department and Mrs Sonali Kumar, Principal Secretary, swaps place with him. Mr P.S. Gill, ADGP, has been shifted to the armed police in place of Mr Kuldeep Khoda, who goes as ADGP, CID. Mr R.V. Raju, ADGP, Vigilance, has been shifted to the police headquarters and Dr Ashok Bhan, ADGP CID goes to the Vigilance. Mr P.L. Gupta, IGP, Traffic, and Mr Abdul Rashid Khan, IGP, modernisation, in the police headquarters, swap places. Mr V.K. Singh has been appointed as DIG, Poonch-Rajouri range, in place of Mr S.M. Sahai, who goes as DIG, Crime and Railways, Jammu. Sheikh Owais Ahmad, DIG, Home Guards, has been appointed as DIG, South Kashmir range, Anantnag, in place of Mr Ravinder Kotwal who has been shifted to the CID. Mr Farooq Ahmed, DIG, Jammu-Kathua range, has been transferred as DIG, Administration and Mr Niaz Mehmood, DIG, Traffic, has been put in his place. Mr Mukesh Singh, SSP, Poonch, has been appointed as SSP, Jammu, in place of Dr Kamal Saini, who goes as Commanding Officer, 8th Battalion. Mr S.D. Singh, SSP, Traffic, Jammu, goes as the new SSP of Poonch. Mr T. Punchok, SSP, Leh, has been posted as CO, Home Guards and Mr Sayeed Ahmed Sayeed, CO, JKAP, has been appointed SSP, Srinagar. Mr Sunil Kumar, SSP, Doda, goes as CO, 7th Bn, JKAP. Mr Parminder Singh, SSP, SSG, has been appointed SSP, Border, Jammu, in place of Mr Karnail Singh. Mr Vijay Singh Samyal, SSP, Udhampur, has been sifted to the Vigilance Department. Mr Johny William, SSP, Security (Raj Bhavan), has been posted as SSP, Kathua, in place of Mr Raghuvir Singh. |
3 Pak youths repatriated Jammu, April 23 According to the BSF Assistant Commandant, Mr Dev Guria, three Pakistani boys riding on a motor cycle crossed over to the Indian side from the Jamna Bela Post in Akhnoor sector. He said that they were immediately arrested. However, their interrogation revealed that they had come to see the border and “by mistake had strayed into our territory.” Mr Guria said, “We contacted Pakistani post commander Inspector Asif and he agreed to accept the three boys Wasim, Numan Mushtaq and Harmanul Rehman back. The three boys are students of Murree College in Sialkot. Mr Guria agreed that it was due to the confidence building measures that the repatriation of the boys was agreed upon without any hassle. |
Road named after General Vij Jammu, April 23 “Strong winds of peace are blowing across the state and in this direction the Army, the BSF, the CRPF and the police have worked jointly to build this movement for peace,” General Vij told reporters after a function to rename the Kachhi Chawani road as Gen N.C. Vij Road. “In this movement people have become partners of this peace march in the state,” he added. Asked about the controversy over the South African arms deal, he said “It was done prior to my posting as the Army chief of the country”.
