Om’s the word

The Sound Supreme (Times Music)

Generations have sworn by the physical, emotional and spiritual effects of chanting the mystical Om. It is considered the primordial sound which is woven into the DNA of every human being. The Mool Mantra has nothing to do with any particular religion but is the common heritage of the entire humanity.

Now this expression of consciousness and life force has been recited by Pandit Jasraj. This album has 12 verses from the Mandukya Upanishad. The legendary voice of Pt Jasraj scales new heights while rendering this primal vibration.

CDs of this album contain seven specially designed cards by famous artist Achyut Palav. These have mantra and illustration and explanation of each mantra, enabling one to meditate just about anywhere, any time. The CD also contains a booklet with lyrics of the verses in the album, famous sayings and quotations based on Om and excerpts explaining this universal mantra.

Romeo (Tips)

The Canadian "Crown Prince of Bhangra", Jazzy B, has had a long association with music director Sukshinder Shinda. In fact, it was during his first meeting with Shinda way back in 1989 that Jazzy discovered that he had a flair for singing.

The two come together in this unusual album which has generated considerable interest because this is the first release by Jazzy after two years. There are some other reasons also which put it apart. Jazzy duets with Apache Indian in the opener Dil Lutiya.

While the music in most of the 10 songs is decidedly westernised, the style of singing is folk. Most of the songs are for a wild bout of bhangra.
