bestseller a Hollywood film A 13-year-old schoolgirl wrote a novel when she was 10. She is nowmulling over a Hollywood movie deal after her book looks set to sell more than one million copies. The writer from Inverness became an overnight publishing sensation after more than 50,000 copies of her book, Dragon Tamers, were sold in less than six weeks. Written when she was only 10 the story about a teenager who is dragged into a virtual reality game involving a dragon has captured the imagination of children around the world. Her publisher Charles Faulkner, who heads Aultbea Publishing in Inverness, said yesterday that discussions were well underway for the book to be turned into a Hollywood film after interest was expressed from several major studios. "The book Dragon Tamers has gone absolutely wild," said Mr Faulkner. "The awareness of this book globally is unbelievably spectacular considering it only came out on December 17. "We have been getting calls from stores looking for more books because customers, eager to find out what all the fuss is about, have been fighting over the few remaining copies." Since hitting the big time the youngster, who has just started her second year of senior school at Charleston Academy, has made numerous appearances on television and radio as sales of her book continue to surge. "We are already in discussions about producing a movie, a television series, an audio book, a game and even translating the story into almost every major language of the world. I am confident that more than one million copies of the book will be sold worldwide before the end of the year." Emma Maree's story about a girl forced to fight for survival in virtual reality world in which if she dies in the game she dies in real life has captured the imagination of children who like playing computer games. Already her success has been compared to that of J K Rowling in that the possibilities of spin-offs from the book look set to net the youngster a fortune.
