Rhyme time
Exam blues

This is neither summer nor winter

A very unpleasant part of the year,

As examinations are near.

Examination fever is upper most,

Changing each student into

a burnt toast.

What to read, what to write,

It is a horrible life.

Chemistry is a mystery,

Mathematics solutions,

forced me to join tuitions.

Julius Caesar is like my own

assassination,

Biology and physics is a

fool’s creation.

In History and geography,

everything is topsy tury.

I am in a confused state of mind,

Oh, teachers please be kind.

— Shubham Harish Class IX-C, St. Joseph’s Convent School, Ferozepore

Mastering maths

Eighty per cent people in the world

Fear the word, "mathematics".

One, two, three, four,

I always confuse it for,

Plus, minus, divide and multiply.

When I do this,

My mind says "bye-bye",

Integral, decimal, simplification,

Produce high tension.

Interest, percentage, loss and gain,

Gives my brain a pain.

— Anuj Kumar,

Class-IX, Shivalik Bharti Sr Sec School, Dera Bassi

I wish...

I wish to be a bird,

So that there are no boundaries.

I wish to be a river,

So that my flow is never stopped.

I wish to be a part of air,

So that I am essential for everyone.

I wish to be a flower,

So that I am something special.

I wish to be a cloud,

So that I am waited by everyone.

I wish to be a sky,

So that I am only seen but

never reached.

I wish to be the morning sun,

So that I can give relief and fun.

But I have seen,

I never wished to be a human being.

— Rajinder Singh Sidhu, Class X, Dasmesh Public School, Kotkapura
