GMCH to have computerised patient records in 6
months
Chandigarh, January 3 Taking up the task of managing the hospital after being appointed the regular Director Principal of the Government Medical College and Hospital by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi, last month, Prof Swami said the pending work should be completed within six months to one year. “Already the accounts section has been computerised and we perceive that around 60 per cent of the work related to computerisation has been completed. What we are further trying to do is link the wards and laboratories so that the records of the patients are retrieved within no time,” said Prof Swami, while talking to The Tribune. The authorities are looking forward to evolving a system where the files of the patients containing the investigations and the reports of the diagnostic tests are fed into the computer system for easy retrieval. The emergency wards too would be linked to the computerised network for easy accessibility of patients record. Around Rs 40 lakh would be pumped into the project. Lack of the facility for conducting MRIs within the hospital premises is another priority on the agenda and the Director-Principle is looking for a tie-up with the private players in the market to provide the facility on subsidised rates. “The work for the patients is going on and we are already carrying out several repair works within the hospital and are purchasing equipment for them,” said Dr Swami. |
