VIDEO/AUDIOSCAN
Golden melodies

Yaadon ka Silsila (Music Today)

With the prices of video CDs falling steadily, more and more companies are now releasing old songs in a video format. Thus you get to see the film clips at almost the same cost at which you purchase its audio CD.

Music Today is a pioneer in this field. Its latest offering has a dozen songs by Kishore Kumar. The films which have contributed more than one song are Amar Prem (Yeh kya hua and Kuchh to log kahenge) and Namak Haram (Diye jalte hain and Nadiya se dariya). Those that have contributed one song each are Daag, Doosra Aadmi, Silsila, Dostana, Padosan, Sholay and Sagar.

It is quite a trip down the memory lane, watching Amitabh serenading Rekha and Dharmendra wooing Hema Malini.

Most of these are love songs except for a few exceptions like the celebrated Mere samne wali khidki mein ik chand ka tukda rehta hai.

Inteqam (Times Music)

Anand-Milind try to break the mould once in a while. Here too they come up with music which may not exactly be a chartbuster but it does have some freshness. The album also boasts of several new names as also a few less-known names.

The most promising of these is Soumya Raoh, who features in a solo (Ab waqt ki aahat) and a duet (Aayee aayee Holi) with Udit Narayan. — ASC
