She says she has finally become what she’s always wanted to be — part actress, part producer and now part teacher. Just a few years ago Rakhi Tandon was known as an up and coming model. Then came Hum Paanch which transformed her into a comic talent. What followed were funnies like Banegi Apni Baat, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Cincinnati Bublaboo and Hum Hain Dilwale. However, as producer she stepped out of her oeuvre of comedy and made serials like Heena, Dulhan and the very sobering Har Mod Par. As she says, "I may be an actress who entertains but I am a very serious producer." Now she’s all set to be a teacher and has established the RT Acting Academy. And her big USP — those who pass out from her academy will be guaranteed an acting break. "The objective is to make the course job-oriented. We won’t just teach students but see to it they get a good break. After that it’s their hard work and luck," says Rakhi. What about her own break in films? "No thanks. Writers and casting crew seem to be a confused lot these days. It is not rare to see the same pair cast as siblings here and lovers there. No this isn’t about Shah Rukh- Aishwariya act in Josh and Mohabattein. This is what’s going on in Balaji’s Kkoi Dil Mein Hai (KDMH) on Sony Entertainment Television. The serial is all about best friends Kajal and Krutika falling in love with same guy Samay and then Kajal sacrificing her love for Krutika. The story is as old as the hills, and there can be nothing compelling about such hackneyed themes. But the serial sure is catching the fancy of viewers for an altogether different reason. The lovebirds in Kkoi Dil Mein Hai—Samay (Hiten Tejwani) and Krutika (Karishma Tana) play brother-sister in another Balaji soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Krutika admits it’s a tough transforming one’s sentiments from a sister to a girlfriend in a single day of shooting.
