Tonk and Shona in Kahin Kissi Roz: Tied in knots
Tonk and Shona in Kahin Kissi Roz:
Tied in knots

What if Karan (Hiten Tejwani) could not marry Nandani (Gauri Pradhan) in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. In real life Hiten and Gauri are now a happily married couple.

It sure is a season of weddings in tellyland. Small screen romances are cumulating into marriages faster then soap writers can churn out plots.

Recently Apoorva Agnihotri — Aarman Suri in Jassi Jaisie Koi Nahin married Shilpa Saklani — anga of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Manish Goel — Tushar of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Poonam Narula — Nandita of Kasauti Zindigi Kay tied the knot. So did Yash Tonk and Shona of Kahin Kissi Roz and Sumit Sachdeva and Kiran — Gomzi and Karishma of Kyoon Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Apart from Apoorva Agnihotri, all new brides and bridegrooms are from the Balaji soap factory. About time Ekta Kapoor’s opened a matchmaking bureau as well.

A long yatra

Deepti BhatnagarBack in 1992 when she came to Mumbai to promote her handicrafts business in Meerut, little did this entrepreneur know that destiny had a radically different plan for her.

Today, Deepti Bhatnagar is a Mussafir on a very different Yatra. Her two shows — you guessed it — Musafir Hoon Yaaron and Yatra are notching up decent TRPs on Star Plus. And her daily soap Kabhi Aayi Na Judai has done a Sehwag — completed a triple century.

Though all three are being aired on Star Plus, Deepti says she’s open to all channels for shows she’s producing that include a daily and two serials.

And films? "Yes, they are very much on my radar. But I’ll only produce them not act in them." Which is all right considering she’s had 18 back-to-back flops in Bollywood.

But right now she’s only thinking of her success — Kabhi Aayi Na Judaii. "I am ecstatic`85300 episodes is a great achievement. I want to thank lead stars, Pooja Rawal, Prabhat Bhattacharya, Nasir, my parents`85" Now, now Deepti, its 300 episodes not an Oscar!

Just junoon no ehsaas

This has nothing to do with Aamir Khan’s The Rising. As this rising is of a different kind. Remember two-film wonder — Rahul Roy who virtually disappeared after Aashiqui and Junoon?

The forgotten star has been around but without much work. He tried his hand at direction with Mera Joota Hai Japani starring Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff but the film got canned. He was briefly seen in Kaise Kahoon on Zee and in a cameo in Karishma — The Miracles of Destiny.

Now Rahul is seen in Ehsaas on DD where he plays a guy who, he says intriguingly, "will leave you wondering if he is good or bad." But, he adds almost defensively, "I’m doing this is because I know Raman Kumar from the time he used to be with Mahesh Bhatt." So is he planning to stay long on the small screen? "I don’t know. I am looking around for good roles in films and will be directing a movie. I have signed Manoj Bajpai and am trying to get Sushmita Sen," says Rahul, making no secret that the big screen lure is still hard to resist.

One for the road

As Jai in Just Mohabatt, his hazel eyes lit the small screen. But today Vatsal Sheth has butterflies in his stomach as his debut film Tarzan — The Wonder Car is ready to roll out. "I am nervous, I hope viewers don’t give me a thumbs down," says Vatsal who plays a genius designer whose car Tarzan becomes a rage. What’s really worrying the debutant is that the car might turn out to be the real star of the Abbas Mastan film. "But even if I flop as a star, modelling and TV will carry on," says Vatsal, who shares something common with James Bond. Mumbai-based Dilip Chhabaria who designed Tarzan is also the designer of the 007’s Aston Martin in Die Another Day. NF
