BBA drawing good response

BBA, started by Punjab Technical University at four colleges in the city, is drawing a good response. Besides, there is demand for BCA also.
Mr G.S. Dua, co-ordinator of the Gujaranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management, said so far they had received 142 applications for BBA, while the college had provision for 60 students only . Mr Dua said, “We will request the PTU to grant us permission to admit more students.” He said BBA had gained popularity as jobs were easily available. “Students are given practical knowledge. They attend summer camps and by the end of the course, they become quite proficient,” he added.

Industrialists from Mumbai and Delhi , who want to set up business in the city, prefer local workers. Students are picked up by insurance companies, banks, financial companies and car companies.

Dr Bansal, Principal of the institute, said there was a great demand for BBA.

The Punjab College of Technical Education has also reported a huge rush for BBA. Students are also showing keen interest in BCA.

GNIMT students bag three varsity positions

In a merit list released recently by Punjab Technical University, three students of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkahn Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, have made it to the top 10 positions in the university in BCA-V semester. Fifth, eighth and tenth positions in the university have been bagged by GNIMTians. In the BCA-V examination held in December 2003, Amrit Pal Kaur secured fifth position in the university with 89.6% marks. She was followed by Aditi Malhotra at eighth position with 88.1% marks and Anudeep Kaur at 10th position with 87.9% marks.

Dr A.S. Bansal, director, GNIMT, has appreciated the excellent performance of the students and congratulated the merit position holders on their achievement.

Summer camp concludes

Ludhiana, June 24
A summer camp organised by Small Wonders concluded today.
Principal Neeti Dewan said the motive of the camp was to create confidence among the students. On the concluding day, students exhibited self-made handicrafts like wall hanging, mural paintings, pen stands, snowman, cakes and candles. Thermocol paintings made with ice cream sticks, craft paper and poster colours were attractive. A dance and a drawing competitions were also organised. OC
