It is difficult to say what is more endearing about him — his famous waddle, ballistic temper or his last-minute noble intentions. Donald Fauntleroy Duck, who turned 70 on June 9, continues to quack his way into the hearts of millions around the world. This forever-in-trouble Disneyland character first appeared in the cartoon The Wise Little Hen in 1934. Immortalised in 128 Donald Duck cartoons and many others featuring Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Pluto, this cranky ducky is a creation of Disney studio artist Carl Barks, and not Walt Disney as believed by many. |
