Indo-Egyptian music concert held
Srinagar, June 9 The first-ever Indo-Egyptian grand cultural function held in Kashmir lasted nearly three hours last evening and attracted a galaxy of artists and music lovers besides tourists, including foreigners. As part of a cultural conversation between India and Egypt the two ancient cultural identities in the world, share a chronological association, and this cross-cultural and cross-civilisation event was initiated to promote, highlight and understand the cultural ethos and philosophy of both countries, said Mr Ramesh Mehta, secretary of the state academy. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi and State Academy have devised many such events in near future, to foster ties between Jammu and Kashmir and other cultural identities, he added. Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was the chief guest at the event organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and held at Tagore Hall in the heart of the city.

Two boys drowned Jammu, June 9 Ten-year-old Rajesh and 12-year-old Ramesh, sons of Mr Nathu Ram, a resident of Payee in Rajnagar tehsil of Madhya Pradesh, were playing near the track where their parents were working. The duo slipped into the nearby drain and drowned. They were brought out of the drain and rushed to the GMC hospital where doctors declared them dead sources added.
