Robin Singh, a former member of the Indian cricket team, was in the city today to promote a private cricket academy. At a function held late this evening at St Stephen’s School in Sector 45 here, Robin Singh said at present, he was training young cricketers.
It may be recalled that Robin made his debut in 1996 at PCA, Mohali, and was considered one of the finest fielders, beside being a batsman and a medium-pacer. He has played in more than 100 One-Day Internationals.
Robin, who is presently in Chennai, said the training of the Hong Kong team was also a tough task but the players were doing very well. Earlier, he was on an assignment to Bangladesh for training their young players.
When asked about the increase in sponsorship trend in cricket, Robin said it was good for the growth of the game.
Robin said there was no dearth of talent in the country and any cricketer, performing at any level, was getting due recognition. He said the cricketers should maintain their fitness level.
