Ten teams for Lala Raghubir Singh Cricket

New Delhi, May 20
Ten top teams will participate in the 28th Lala Raghubir Singh Hot Weather Cricket Tournament on the Modern School ground, Barakhamba Road. South Delhi Colts will take on Indian Airlines Corporation in the opening match, which will start at 7.30 a m, on Friday.

Organising secretary Dr V K Baweja announced that the prominent other teams taking part in tournament would be Chand Khanna Club, Malviya Club, Sonnet Club, Food Corporation of India, Karma, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Collage, Madras Club, K N Colts, S.G.Meerut, Air Sahara and Rajdhani Sports Collage Group are the defending champions while ONGC are the runners-up. Dr Baweja said over Rs 1 lakh would be at stake as prize money, and there would also be man of the match award in every contest. Dr Baweja said there would be man of the tournament, best batsman and best bowler awards. All matches would be of 40 overs each side.

Saurabh, Rohit star in Paul cricket

Saurabh Jain hit 60 and Rohit Saini cracked 58 as Lal Bahadur Shastri Club defeated Balaji Cricket Club by 43 runs in the third I D Paul Memorial Cricket Tournament on the Apex Public School ground. Saurabh was named the man of the match.

Scores: Shastri Club: 230 for 5 in 25 overs (Saurabh Jain 60, Rohit Saini 58, Sumit Rana 30, Vikas Kumar 3 for 26, Nirmal Singh 2 for 36). Balaji Club: 187 all out in 23.2 overs (Nirmal Singh 48, Somveer Singh 39, Sumit Rana 3 for 43, Abhishek Sakuja 3 for 20).

EXL Service win

EXL Service defeated E-Fund by three wickets in the Century Cup Cricket Tournament on the IIT ground, Haus Khas.

Scores: E-Fund: 166 for 8 in 25 overs (Sandeep 37, Vikas 35, Ravinder 28, Sidhant 3 for 24. EXL Service: 170 for 7 in 24.3 overs (Amit Rawat 45, Gaurav 39, Pankaj 3 for 32, Wasim Sidvki 3 for 13).

Rajesh stars for SAR Group

An all-round display by skipper Rajesh Brown (73 and 3 for 8) and half century knocks by Abhishek Kaushik (61, 10x4) and Dheeraj Sharma (64, 8x4, 1x6) helped SAR Group defeat Sarmond Club by 139 runs in the second On-Dot Cup Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Stadium.

Scores: SAR Group: 263 for 5 in 35 overs (Rajesh Brown 73,Abhisekh 61, Dheeraj Sharma 64, Naveen Gehlot 2 for 37, Akash Oilan 3 for 41). Sarmount Club: 127 all out in 25 overs (Amit Gehlot 33, Naveen Gehlot 30, Rajesh Brown 3 for 8, Jitender Choudhary 3 for 37).

Ravindra School, Gold Star advance in Summer League

A stylish knock of 75 studded with eight fours and three sixes, by Surya Azad and all-round display by Sawej Khan (46, 3 for 32) helped Ravindra Public School defeat U K Cricket World by 19 runs in the Cambridge Foundation Under-19 Summer League Cricket Tournament on the Cambridge School ground, Rajouri Garden.

In another match, Kartik Bhatia struck an unbeaten century (126, 9x4, 9x6) to help Gold Star Academy defeat Remal Public School by 131 runs.

Scores: Ravindra School: 234 all out in 30 overs (Surya Azad 75, Sawej Khan 46, Naveen Gahlot 36, Gagan Preet Singh 3 for 40). U K Cricket World: 214 all out in 29.3 overs (Shivam Sharma 54, Praveen Rawat 53, Anshul Gupta 37, Sandeep Singh 3 for 35, Sawej Khan 3 for 32).

Gold Star: 242 for 5 in 30 overs (Kartik Bhatia 126 n o, Pragat Singh 38, Sumit Kumar 3 for 36). RPS: 111 all out in 23.3 overs (Sunil Dabas 38, Kumar Abhishek 4 for 29, Pragat Singh 3 for 14).

Guru Harkrishan enter final

An all-round performance by Harpreet Singh (33 5 for 26) and fine knock of 40, studded with eight fours, by Bhawdeep Singh helped Guru Harkrishan Public School (GHPS), Vasant Vihar defeat GHPS, Hemkunt by eight wickets and entered the final of the Maharaja Ranjit Singhji Under-15 Cricket Tournament on the GHPS ground.

Harpreet Singh was named the man of the match.

Scores GHPS, Hemkunt: 97 all out in 21 overs (Sarthak Kapila 25, Harpreet Singh 5 for 26, Sandeep Bisht 2 for 24). GHPS, Vasant Vihar: 98 for 2 in 18 overs (Bhawdeep Singh 40, Amit Ghuman 20, Harpreet Singh 33).

Manya, Kavya move up in tennis talent contest

Manya Nagpal defeated Shivani Gupta 9-3 and Kavya Nath defeated Vidushi Bhalla 9-3 in the under-18 girls event of the AITA Talent Series at the Roshanara Club courts.

Following are the other results: Under-14 boys: Pratik Bhambri b Punit Phore 9-2, Shekhar Kapoor b Tanjir Sandhu 9-2, Shantanu Rajput b Akshay Arora 9-4, Pratik Patel b Karan Choudhary 9-2.

Under-18 boys: Rahul Belwal b Inderjot Singh 9-1, Akshay Kohli b Naren Prakash 9-4, Dhruv Gupta b Dhruv Guruwara 9-7, Tushar Jagota b Kush Jagga 9-6. Under-14 girls: Aarushi Sharma b Kritika Paul 9-5, Manya Nagpal b Ratnika Batra 9-5.

Urban Development win in DSA League

Urban Development Club defeated Railway Board in the DSA Institutional League Football Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium on Thursday.

Devender Singh (2) and Pradeep (2) scored for the winners while Rajesh Kumar reduced the margin for Railway Board.

In the second match, Oriental Bank of Commerce defeated Reserve Bank of India 4-0. Sanjeev Sharma (2) and Dharminder Kharola (2) were the goal-scorers.
