Eminent radiologist gets international recognition

New Delhi, May 18
Dr Sudershan K. Aggarwal, eminent radiologist, has become the first Indian to be awarded the honorary membership of the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the European Association of Radiology (EAR) for his contribution in the field of radiology worldwide.

Dr Aggarwal is the founder president for the SAARC Society of Radiology and for his contribution to radiology he has been felicitated by various organisations all over the world. He has been awarded fellowship by the Royal College of Radiologists, the American College of Radiology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow), the Royal Society of Medicine (London) and has been awarded honorary memberships to the Italian Society of Medical Radiology.

He has also received various awards, including the Beclere medal by the International Society of Radiology, the Gosta Forssell by the Swedish Academy of Radiology and the J C Bose Oration by the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association.

Dr Aggarwal is also the founding editor of Asian Oceanic Journal of Radiology and has authored more than 60 research articles.

Urban Development, AIIMS win in DSA League

New Delhi, May 18
Urban Development Ministry (UDM) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) posted victories in contrasting styles in the ‘A’ Division Delhi Soccer Association Institutional Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium on Tuesday. In a Group A match, Urban Development defeated Delhi
Transport Corporation (DTC) by two goals to nil. The goals came once in each half. Devender Rawat opened the account two minutes into the match while Ajay Kumar completed the tally in the 59th minute.

In a Group B match, AIIMS scored a thumping 7-0 victory against Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).

Striker Rajan stole the spotlight, knocking in four goals, including a hattrick. He scored the first goal in the second minute, and later added the third, fourth and fifth goals in the 26th, 36th and 45th minute respectively.

Raju scored the second goal in the 19th minute while Jitender Bhati and Mahesh accounted for the last two goals, in the 50th and 52nd minute, respectively.

The Senior Division match between Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was postponed on the request of PNB as they had not received the match information. Wednesday’s fixtures: ESIC vs Delhi Administration (4 p m); IGPCL/BESES vs Indian Airlines (5.15 pm)—Ambedkar Stadium.

Cambridge Foundation, Subhania Club move up

Gaurav Mathur hit a spitfire 81, laced with 13 boundaries and two sixes, and Saurabh Sehgal cracked an unbeaten 67 to help Cambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden, defeat Remal Public School by nine wickets in a league match of the Cambridge Foundation Under-19 Summer League Cricket Tournament at the winner’s ground.

Remal, batting first, made 195 for 8 and Cambridge gathered the winning runs for the loss of just one wicket.

In another match, Subhania Club defeated Meera Model School by nine wickets.

Scores; Remal Public School: 195 for 8 in 30 overs (Rahul Rathore 55, Harman Gill 3 for 42, Narender Chouhan 3 for 29). Cambridge Foundation School: 196 for 1 in 23 overs (Gaurav Mathur 81, Saurabh Sehgal 67 n o).

Meera Model School: 82 all out in 21.3 overs (Avnit Singh 38, Inderjeet Singh 5 for 26, Rahul Mehta 3 for 15, Arun Khandelwal 2 for 9). Subhania: 83 for 1 in 9 overs (Sumit Singh 30, Arun Khandelwal 44 n o).

Pritpal Singh hits ton

An unbeaten century by Pritpal Singh (102, 86b, 15x4, 4x6) and an all-round display by Sandeep Angurala (21 and 4 for 11) helped Rohtak Road Gymkhana defeat Najafgarh Sports Club by 151 runs in the second On Dot Cup Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Stadium. Pritpal Singh was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: Rohtak Road Gymkhana: 271 for 5 in 35 overs (Pritpal Singh 102, Deepak Sharma 61, Pradeep Chawla 26, Sandeep Angurala 21, Rakesh Rishi 3 for 37, Sanjay Rishi 2 for 22). Rajiv Rathore stars for Chand Khanna

A brilliant all-round display by Rajiv Rathore, who scalped four wickets for 15 runs off seven overs and then cracked a quickfire 19 off 24 balls with three fours enabled, Chand Khanna Club trounce Young Friends by five wickets in a first-round match of the Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament at the SGTB Khalsa College ground. Rajiv Rathore was named the man of the match.

Chand Khanna won the toss and put Young Friends to bat. But the Young Friends batsmen failed to tackle the medium-pace and spin attacks of Chand Khanna, particularly that of Rajiv Rathore, to be shot out for 154 in 37.4 overs. Pardeep Chawla’s top score of 44 with four boundaries saved Young Friends the blushes.

But the meagre score was easy target for Chand Khanna who raced to victory in just 35.5 overs. Veteran Amar Singh and Peiyush gave them a flying start, putting on 73 runs for the opening wicket. After their departure, Chand Khanna coursed to the target for the loss of another three wickets.

Inborn, K.N Colts record impressive victories

Inborn Club defeated Madras Club by six wickets in the DDCA Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Ramjas ground. Scores: Madras Club: 128 all out in 37.4 overs (Pranav Kumar 46, Nikhal Sahajpal 3 for 37). Inborn Club: 132 for 4 in 27 overs (Wasim Raja 32, Rajesh Rawat 29, Sidhartha Bisht 3 for 41).

At the University ground, K N Colts defeated Gush Club by seven wickets. Scores: Gush: 125 all out in 38 overs (Vidur Sethi 28, Dishank Dhawan 21, Dixit Kathuria 3 for 16, Vivek Mishra 3 for 9, Ankur Kumar 3 for 9). K N Colts: 126 for 3 in 26 overs (Vivek Mishra 40 n o, Rahul Bhardwaj 35).

Sawej Khan shines

An all-round display by Sawej Khan (3 for 30 and 41) helped Ravindra Public School defeat Three Star Club by five wickets and entered the quarter-final of the third I D Paul Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Apex School ground. Sawej Khan was named the man of the match.

A breath-taking half century by Ashutosh (70, 10x4, 3x6) and deadly bowling by Rishi (3 for 40) helped HTA defeat Media Transasia by seven wickets in the Century Cup Cricket Tournament at the IIT ground. Scores: Media Transasia: 145 all out in 22 overs (Mohit Sharma 47, Rohit 32, Rishi 3 for 40, Sanjay Bali 2 for 42).
HTA: 146 for 3 in 21 overs (Ashutosh 70 n o, Daljeet 48, Mohit Sharma 2 for 21).

Ramjas Academy enter final

Deadly bowling by Vishwas Sehrawat (4 for 30) and Miland (3 for 20) enabled Ramjas Cricket Academy defeat MRV School,

Sector 12 (Dwarka) by 24 runs and enter the final of the Maharaja Ranjit Singhji Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the GHPS ground, Vasant Vihar.
