Praveen Rawat shines in Cambridge

Stylish knocks by Praveen Rawat, who hit 75 with the aid of ten fours and three sixes, and an unbeaten half century by Rameez Niyamat helped U K Cricket World defeat Subhania Club by 80 runs in the second Cambridge Foundation Under-17 Summer League on the host school ground, Rajouri Garden.

Batting first, U K Cricket World thrived on the knocks of Praveen and Rameez to make 242 for 6 in 30 overs. In reply, Subhania Club crashed to 162.

Scores: U K Cricket World: 242 for 6 in 30 overs (Praveen Rawat 75, Rameez Niyamat 52 n o, Nitin Thareja 48, Rahul Mehta 3 for 38).

Subhania Club: 162 all out in 28.3 overs (Naveen Sharma 46, Inderdeep Singh 31, Yogesh Rajput 3 for 21, Sachin Aggarwal 3 for 40).

Ritesh Sinha deadly

Fine knocks by Anand Kumar (80) and Mayank Sethi (43) and deadly bowling by Ritesh Sinha (3 for 39) helped Sumit Dogra Academy defeat Delhi Government by two wickets in the I D Paul Memorial Cricket Tournament on the Apex Public School ground.

Scores: Delhi Government: 243 for 9 in 25 overs (Rajender Bharadwaj 96, Anand Singh 38, Sunil Bhati 30, Ritesh Sinha 3 for 39, Tanuir Ahmad 3 for 26, Vikas Jain 3 for 35).

Sumit Dogra Academy: 245 for 8 in 24 overs (Anand Kumar 80, Rishi Kumar 43, Mayank Sethi 43, Manuj Pal 3 for 25, Rajender Bhardwaj 3 for 48).

R P Academy advance in GG Dutt tourney

New Delhi, May 16
RP Cricket Academy defeated South Delhi Colts by five wickets to move into the pre-quarter-final round of the 31st All-India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament on the SGTB Khalsa College ground on Sunday. The tournament was inaugurated by principal of Khalsa College Dr D.S Clair.

RP Academy won the toss and put South Delhi Colts into bat. They scored 231 in 40 overs with Amanjeet Singh displaying his batting skills with a stylish 82, off 93 balls and studded with ten boundaries. Nischal Gaur made off 76 balls with three fours and two sixes. Amanjeet and Nischal put on 118 runs for the second wicket in 22.1 overs.

At one stage, South Delhi Colts were comfortably placed at 178 for 2 in 33.2 overs. But left-arm spinner Amit Tewita then produced a stunning spell to return with mesmerising figures of eight overs, 50 runs and six wickets.

In reply, R P Academy crossed the victory target for the loss of just five wickets with three balls to spare. Amit Tewtia also contributed a cameo unbeaten 26, off 17 balls with five fours, to win the man of the match award.

Scores: South Delhi Colts: 231 for 9 in 40 overs (Amarjeet Singh 82, Sanjay Bamal 30, Nischal Gaur 70, Amit Tewtia 6 for 50).

R P Academy: 234 for 5 in 39.3 overs (Rahul P D 26, Robin Bisht 29, Jaideep Choudhary 63 n o, Abdul Sattar 48, Nischal Gaur 2 for 22). Monday’s fixture: Youngsters vs Gush XI.

Radhika moves up in prize money badminton

Radhika Bahhar defeated Shreya Suri 11-8, 11-7 to move into the second round of the under-13 age group Cosco Prize Money Badminton Tournament at the Karnail Singh Stadium on Sunday.

In other girls under-13 first-round matches, Jhankar Aggarwal defeated Deepika Dhiman 11-0, 11-1 and Shreya Aggarwal beat Rashmeet Kour 11-4, 11-9.

In the under-13 boys second round matches, Yakshup Chopra beat Chirag Kashyap 15-8, 8-15, 15-3; Jayank Ahuja b Kunal Jain 15-7, 15-3; Jatin b Varul Goel 15-1, 15-1; Atul Chauhan b Akash Narang 15-15, 15-1; Surmukh Singh b Gitesh Atwal 15-10, 15-4; Bharat Bajaj b K N Naveen 15-2, 15-0; Nishant Kumar b Ketan 15-12, 15-13; Gyan Singh b Shna Atwal 15-11, 3-15, 15-6.
