Nehru Hospital summer timings

Chandigarh, May 12
With the two-month summer vacation starting at the PGI from May 16, Nehru Hospital will soon start observing summer timings.

While registration at the new OPD block will be done from 7 a.m to 10 a.m, the summer timings for Nehru Hospital will be from 7 a.m to 1.30 p.m. However, during the vacation from May 16 to July 15 emergency services shall continue to function round the clock.

During the vacation the PGI faculty will remain on leave for a month each in two shifts.

Football academy trials on May 17

The final trials to select 24 trainees for the Chandigarh Football Academy under the age group of 14 will be held on May 17 at the Sector 42 sports complex at 8 a.m.

According to Mr JPS Sidhu, joint secretary, Chandigarh Football and Hockey Academy, the initial trials to enrol the trainees was conducted at 10 venues in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh over the past one month. The trials were held for the boys born between April 1,1993, and March 31,1994.

Dr Sidhu said the stay arrangements for the shortlisted boys would be made at the sports hostel in Sector 42 free of cost. The boys should bring the original date of birth certificates along with two passport-size photographs. Meanwhile, the trials for vacant seats (under-14 section) for the existing football academy would also be conducted on the said date. Boys born between January1,1990 and December 31,1990, could appear in the selection trials for the vacant seats.

Skating championship

A contingent of 74 roller skaters will represent Chandigarh in the 41st National Skating Championship to be held at Visakhapatnam from May 20 to 25.

According to Mr Jagpal Singh, president of the Chandigarh Roller Skating Association, the team will be accompanied by Harpreet Singh as manager and Ms Verma as lady manager. Mr Sarabjit will accompany the team as coach. The players were selected on the basis of the Chandigarh State Roller Skating Championship held last month.

The team: Speed event: boys: 6-8 yrs: Bhavdeep 1, Aman 2, Danish 3.

8-10 yrs: Rahul 1, Karan 2, Shivam 3.10-12 yrs; Manjit 1, Sachin 2, Deepanshu 3. 12-14 yrs;Gulrajan 1, Aman 2, Gaurav 3.

Inline: 12-14 yrs;Suhail Gill 1. above 14 yrs; Amber 1. Makul 2.

Girls: 6-8 yrs: Darshawinder 1, Apurva 2, Nupur 3.

8-10 yrs: Manveen 1, Naina 2, Simran 3. 10-12 yrs: Mehak 1, Shweta 2, Rukhsar 3.

Above 14 yrs: Kriti, Ashm, Manisha.

Roller Hockey: sub-junior boys: Manjit, Balram, Dharampreet, Shubham, Varinder, Gaurav, Abhiney, Hashit, Pulkit, Jaswinder.

Stand-byes: Gagandeep1, Manavpreet 2, Pulkit Sharma 3.

Junior boys: Mandeep, Gaurav, Arjun, Amit, Chetanpreet, Prince, Pankaj, Saurabh, Kuljinder and Vikram.

Stand-byes: Viswas, Manpreet , Hitesh .

Senior boys: Arvind, Jaswinder, Abhishek, Nirmal, Navdeep, Mukul, Sudhir, Saurabh, Rohit, Neeraj. stand-byes; Amber.

Junior girls: Jyoti, Neyhal, Akansha, Komal, Jasmeet, Parminder, Jyoti Pannu, Pushp, Shivani and Anandita.

Senior girls: Kriti Puri, Japneet, Jasmine, Ashm, Montisha, Manisha, Noor, Nitika, Shivani and Shakun.

Throwball championship

The Chandigarh Amateur Sports Club will hold the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Inter-school Sub-Junior Throwball Championship on May 21 and 22 at the Sports Complex, Sector 7, Chandigarh.
