Slip disc is a very common problem among the people these days but it rarely needs surgery except in a small percentage of cases where backache, leg pain, numbness or weakness of legs does not improve with treatment.

“Conventional surgery has number of drawbacks”, said Dr Kaushal while talking to The Tribune. “It is more painful, needs days of hospitalisation, more medicines, there are more chances of infection and it takes nearly three months for a patient of recover.

In endoscopic disc surgery, a surgery is done with the help of a telescope, by cutting a little part of the back disc, which has been pressing the nerves. The recovery in this case is faster and patients can get back home the same day. the complications involved are also very few as compared to the conventional surgery.
