Panchkula skaters for national meet at Visakhapatnam

Panchkula skaters Nourin Midha in the girls’ section and Vishal Mani and Shubham in the boys section are among members of the Sub-Junior teams which will represent Haryana in the National Roller Skating championship to be held at Visakhapatnam from May 20 to 25. The trials for the same were held at Blue Bird High School in Panchkula. The teams are: roller hockey: sub-junior boys; Vishal Mani (Panchkula), Dipanshoo Saini (Faridabad), Vipul Kamboj, Abhinav Kapoor and Suhas Goel (Yamunanagar), Shubham (Panchkula), Balvinder (Kaithal), Varun Chauhan (Faridabad), Dharamveer (Yamunanagar) and Varun Datta (Faridabad. stand-byes:Sanpreet (Karnal), Jaskaran (Kaithal), Manpreet (Faridabad and Gaurav (Panchkula). Football final St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44, will take on St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, in the final of the Shivalik Trophy for Atoms (under-12 boys) Football Championship played here today at the Shivalik Public School, Sector 41 grounds.In the first semi-final, St Stephen’s School, got the better of St Soldier’s International school, Sector 28, 5-0. Though St Soldier’s boys were playing a better game, it was in the 10th minute that Harshdeep collected a faulty clearance and hit the ball towards the goal, which beat the St Soldier’s goalkeeper completely. St Stephen’s boys scored the second and third goal in the 12th and 13th minutes. Here the scorers were Tarun and Nitin. After lemon break, St Stephen’s boys added two more goals in the 30th and 35th minutes while the scorers were Harjot and Tarun. In the second semi-final, St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44, defeated Saupin’s School, Sector 32, by one goal. The goal was scored by right striker Amrinder Singh in the 33rd minute. The final will be played tomorrow at 4.30 pm.
ITBP victorious The Indo-Tibetan Border Force Xi bagged the hockey title in the Chandigarh Senior State Hockey Championship, which concluded this evening at the Sector 18 hockey stadium. The ITBP overpowered the Indian Air Force XI 1-0. The goal was scored by Anthony Nag through a penalty corner in the sixth minute. Both teams got seven penalty corners each but failed to convert them into goal. Mr Chandersekhar, President, Chandigarh Hockey Association, gave away the prizes.
Mohali in final Mohali entered the final of the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket tournament for ML Markan Trophy, thanks to a superb knock of unbeaten 72 runs by Simranjit Singh Balthana, which helped his team in beating fancied Jalandhar by six wickets. It is the first time that Mohali has reached the final of the inter-district meet since its formation six years ago.
