Main Hoon Na (T-Series)

The brief to Anu Malik was to come up with music which would appeal to teenyboppers. And he has not disappointed director Farah Khan one bit.

Equally amazing is the ability of Javed Akhtar to come up with lyrics which can appeal to masses as well as classes. The catchiest is the title tune in the voice of Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam. Ranjeet Barot does a remix version, while Abhijeet is in his element in the duet Tumhe jo maine dekha with Shreya. Tumse milke dil ka hai jo haal has a qawwali flavour. Small wonder, considering that the singers are Aftab Sabri, Hashim Sabri and Sonu Nigam.

Anu Malik lends his voice to the riotous Gori gori gori gori which also has KK, Shreya and Sunidhi Chauhan.

Dunalli Rifle (Tips)

With time Mika is shedding his pronounced nasal twang. It is still there but is far less jarring. Here he makes a strange amalgam of Punjabi, Hindi and western sounds to set the dance floor on fire. The title song comes at the end. Four of the songs are in Hindi — Jaanam, Basti Basti, Teri nazron ka jadoo and Dil mein tere. — but their beat is like that of Punjabi songs.

Music has been composed by Mika himself.
