GNIMT lifts trophies

Ludhiana, April 2
Students of the local Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, brought laurels to their alma mater, lifting the overall general sports championship trophy, in the women section of the Punjab Technical University. GNIMT girls participated in various competition, including volleyball, basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, cross-country race and athletics, during the current academic session, giving a sterling performance.

GNIMT teams were the winners in volleyball and athletics. Institute students finished runners-up in basketball and secured two positions in cross-country races. Two girls of the GNIMT bagged the best and second-best athlete title. The institute team scored 15 points and clinched overall general sports championship trophy for the session 2003-04. The trophy was presented to the team recently at the annual sports meet of the PTU at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib.

Cricket trials from tomorrow

Ludhiana, April 2
Trials to select cricket probables (u-17 years) for the regional coaching centre, being run by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) under the aegis of the Punjab Cricket Association, will be conducted here at the Arya College for Boys ground on April 4 at 8. 30 am. Mr Vinod Chitkara, general secretary of the LDCA, said players born on or after September 1, 1987, were eligible for the trials. 

These probables will attend coaching at the centre prior to their participation in the forthcoming Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament scheduled to be held in this month end.
