Hosts SAIL stunned defending champions Youngsters by 38 runs to enter the quarter-final of the SAIL Cricket Tournament at the Mohan Meakins ground. Oniel Wilson, who cracked a racy 64, studded with five fours and three sixes off 45 balls, for SAIL was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: SAIL: 237 for 6 in 40 overs (Oniel Wilson 64, Natraj Behra 54, Gursharan Singh 43, Saurav Shukla 35, Mrinal Saini 2 for 39, Mohit Saini 2 for 41). Youngsters: 199 all out in 37.1 overs (Puneet Bisht 65, Jitender Solanki 33, Sunit Sharma 27, S Mohanty 3 for 43, Gursharan Singh 2 for 26, Jalat Saxena 2 for 9).

Australian HC move into final

An unbeaten 61, studded with six fours and one six, by Danny Ranawat enabled Australian High Commission defeat Ministry of External Affairs by seven wickets and entered the semi-final of the third Raymond Trophy Commonwealth High Commissions Cricket Tournament.

Half century knocks by Shiva (71, 11x4) and Ashish Khurana (59, 9x4) helped Touchetel beat IBM by 10 wickets in the Reebok Cricket Tournament at the Palam ground.

Delhi, UP move up in shooting

New Delhi, March 30
Delhi defeated Karnataka 15-1, 15-5 and Uttar Pradesh beat Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Nasik 15-17, 15-12, 15-2 in the 26th National Shooting Championship for men at the Traffic Training Stadium at Punjabi Bagh.

In other matches, Maharashtra defeated Gujarat 15-0, 15-1 and Vidarbha defeated Bihar 15-0, 15-0. In the girls section, Orissa defeated Rajasthan 14-16, 15-6, 15-4, Madhya Pradesh beat Punjab 15-10, 15-8 and Bhopal beat Kerala 15-5, 15-5.

S S Sharma, Raj Kumar and Ashok Dabholkar were the referees.

MP, Goa lift baseball titles

Madhya Pradesh toppled defending champions Delhi 1-0 to lift the men’s title in the 18th National Baseball Championship at the Delhi University ground. Karnataka beat Orissa to take the fourth position. In the girls section, Goa won the title while Delhi finished second. Chandigarh emerged third.

Mandley hits ton

Sidhant Mandley slammed a century and Kartikey Bhatia hit 65 as Rohtak Road Gymkhana defeated Ravindra Public School Academy by 75 runs in a league match of the R C Sharma Memorial Under-17 Cricket Tournament at the Vikaspuri School ground.

Surjit Singh lifts two titles

New Delhi, March 30
Surjit Singh of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) displayed his might in all its worth when he annexed a ‘double’ crown on the second day of the three-day sixth Inter-Power Board Athletic Meet at the Nehru Stadium on Tuesday.

Surjit first bagged the discuss gold and then pocketed the hammer throw title. Balbir Kumar of BBMB raced to the 1500m title while F P Tigga added another gold by winning the triple jump.

The last day’s events on Wednesday will include the sprints and the relays.

Kaushik and Ankit star

Dashing batting display by Prateek Kaushik (72, 14x4) and deadly bowling by Ankit Dabas (5 for 7) and Rohan Dhaya (3 for 24) helped DAV School, Shalimar Bagh defeat St. Marks School, Meera Bagh by 118 runs in the second Pankaj Jain Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the Bal Bharati School ground.
