Delete junk files and free up the disk space

COMPUTERS are not like furniture, they are more similar to automobiles - requiring systematic cleaning and servicing, just as a vehicle does. Further akin to automobiles, computers will begin to run poorly and even "break-down" if not well taken care of and maintained. People maintain their cars because of the large investment they have in them but fail to maintain their computer systems. Poor maintenance can lead to loss of important data. We are featuring a freeware that helps to maintain the computer's health.

Find Junk Files

This is a user-friendly utility designed to free up the disk space by deleting junk files. Each time you use a PC, unwanted files are created that increasingly use more space on your hard drives. Find Junk Files can find over 180 types of junk files with ease. Unlike many other programs Find Junk Files will let you choose which drive or drives to clean, which file types to search for and/or what folders to include or exclude, whether to delete them or not. It works with Win '95, Win98, WinNT 4.0, WinME, Win2000 and WinXP. Most of the Windows applications temporarily create several files on the hard drive when running. These files are supposed to be removed and the space recovered after the programs are closed. Often, however, they don't because of a program error or a sloppy architecture. Also when the system is reset or not shutdown properly, or if another application locks up or crashes, such files are generated. Any file that is left behind will remain on the system unless you search and remove them manually. Over a period of time, these junk and obsolete files can accumulate to megabytes of wasted hard drive space, as well as turn into potential error-producing cross-linked drive references. As well as wasting space on your system, obsolete and junk files can produce very hazardous results if not properly cleaned from your drive on a periodical basis. The symptoms that these garbage files can produce include: cross-linked drive references, lost network and Internet connections, sudden application lock ups, lost data, general protection faults (GPFs) or fatal errors in your applications, virus like behaviour, mysterious reboots and Out of Memory errors. Find Junk Files does the cleaning up effectively offering several ways to eliminate accidental deletion of files. For newbies, the default program settings would do while the relatively advanced users can make their choices within the program itself. Download available at www.iclaxton.com/downloads.html — RM
