ULTA-PULTA
Remixed campaigns

Jaspal Bhatti

THE cricket season has suddenly overshadowed all other seasons, be it the exam season, the marriage season or the elections season. You should not be surprised if your child keeps asking the score while revising for the exams.

I heard my sister rebuke my nephew after the exams, "What have you done Guggu? You were supposed to calculate the average speed of the train and not the bowling average of Shoaib Akhtar."

Don’t be surprised if in between the pheras the groom asks the panditji, "Has Sehwag completed his century?" Panditji might say, "Hurry up and don’t interrupt in between. I have to see the live telecast of the match after the marriage ceremony."

The maximum impact of the Indo-Pak cricket series is on the election campaigns. Advaniji and Soniaji are very upset. Soniaji is annoyed because Rahul and Priyanka, instead of campaigning for her, have gone to Pakistan to watch the Karachi one-day match.

I would advise Advaniji to remix cricket highlights with his election speeches. He will probably address the rally like this "Behno aur bhaiyo, before giving you the message of Bharat Uday, must tell you that Pakistan has won the toss and has put India to bat. During our five-year rule we have made hundreds of roads but.... India has made only 12 runs so far."

Everything, it seems, will come to a standstill till the Indo-Pak series is over.
