BEYONCE Giselle Knowles became the most successful singer of the year when she bagged five Grammy awards. Her album, Dangerously in Love, bagged the best female R&B (Rhythm and Blues) vocal performance and best contemporary R&B album. Another award she won is for the best contemporary R&B album for "Dangerously in Love" and best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals for, "The Closer I get to You," a remake she did with Luther Vandross. With five trophies in a Grammy she tied a record set by Alicia Keys, Norah Jones and Lauryn Hill for the most Grammies won by a female artist. Beyonce as a member of Destiny’s Child has given many hit songs. She even wrote the songs and co-produced the albums. Destiny’s Child has sold more than 33 million records worldwide. She also won the 2001 ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award which makes her the first African-American woman-and the second woman ever-to receive the honour.

Beyonce’s career began at an early age of seven when her father Matthew Knowles formed the group Destiny’s Child along with Beyonce’s cousin Kelly Rowland and singers LeToya Tuckett and LaTavia Roberson.

Destiny’s Child struggled a lot to get popularity. In 1997 they recorded the song Killing Time for the Men In Black soundtrack. Shortly after Destiny’s Child released a self-titled album and sold more than a million copies. The success of album Destiny Child was repeated by the album, Survivor. Her other albums are Work it out (2002), This is the remix (2002), 8 days of Christmas (2001), Survivor (2001), Writings on the wall (2000), Destiny`s Child (1998). Singing is not the only field where she earned her name. She is also popular as an actress and a model.
